Summary Home server is designed to make it easy to connect up to 10 PCs in a home, with a central repository for data (documents, music, video, photos, etc.). Once set up, it can be managed from any PC on the network, and no monitor, keyboard or mouse is required on the server. It also provide remote access to your files from both local network PCs and via the internet. It also includes automatic backup for all networked PCs. Home server is based on Windows 2003 and Home Server 2011 is based on Windows 2008 R2.

Interface Windows Home Server provides a GUI interface that resembles Windows 2003. Once set up, it can be controlled by any PC on the network and does not require a monitor, keyboard or mouse.
Installation Installation will automatically format all partitions (with good warnings). If drives are partitioning in advance, WHS will leave the partitioning in place, although change the volume names. Must be installed in its own primary partition on the first drive. It is intended to ship pre-installed on a PC and will be available only to OEMs.
